About The Position

The Direct Services Specialist provides assistance in the operations of the clothing closet and food pantry. FosterAdopt Connect (FAC) works with children, youth, and families as they navigate the complexities of the child welfare system. With the help of innovative leadership, they are a dedicated, professional staff with a history of over 20 years of experience working in the Kansas and Missouri foster care systems. The organization is committed to connecting children with families that provide a safe, stable environment for foster and adoptive children, aiming to change the lives of foster children, one child and one family at a time.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated resourcefulness in setting priorities and proposing new ways of creating efficiencies.
  • Outstanding organizational and planning skills.
  • Solid commitment to the principles of support and advocacy for foster and adoptive families.
  • Excellent people skills, with experience collaborating in a multi-disciplinary, diverse, and dynamic team.
  • Strong verbal communication skills and demonstrated capability to write clearly and persuasively.
  • Demonstrated leadership capability, team management, and interpersonal skills. Quickly establish rapport and build trust.
  • Flexible and a self-starter; multi-task while also being highly detail-oriented while meeting all deadlines.
  • Work as a necessary part of a team effort with colleagues of all demographics.

  • Retail and community outreach experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure clothing closet and food pantry are organized, sorted, and cleaned for families to shop.
  • Ensure processes and an organizational system is maintained for efficiency, allowing donations to be processed and volunteers the ability to work independently.
  • Track and discard items not selected in shop to keep store fresh and stocked with desirable items.
  • Have a system in place to rotate items going out for pick-up by other agencies verses items going in the clothing closet.
  • Travel required to pick up donations within surrounding counties, with or without accommodation.
  • Conduct community presentations for solicitation of donations and gifts.
