About The Position

The Direct Marketing Lead/Manager will serve as the agency’s primary performance and execution leader for direct marketing initiatives, with a strong emphasis on direct mail. This role is responsible for developing and optimizing performance-driven campaigns across direct mail, email, and SMS channels, while also overseeing the operational execution of print production and mailing logistics. This individual will act as both a strategic leader and hands-on project owner — driving measurable client outcomes, ensuring flawless campaign execution, and serving as the agency’s subject matter expert in direct mail. The ideal candidate brings a balance of marketing strategy, analytical thinking, and deep operational knowledge of print and postage processes, with the ability to lead initiatives, influence clients, and potentially manage team members as the function grows.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, Communications, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 4+ years of experience in marketing project management, preferably within an agency environment.
  • Demonstrated experience managing campaigns from strategy through execution.
  • Strong experience in direct mail, including print production, mailing logistics, and vendor coordination.
  • Working knowledge of USPS regulations, postage optimization, and mailing processes.
  • Experience with performance-driven marketing channels such as email and SMS.
  • Ability to develop targeting strategies, segmentation, and test plans.
  • Experience analyzing campaign performance and translating data into insights.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong financial acumen, including budgeting, scoping, and cost management.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Experience with project management tools and workflows.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and execution of integrated direct marketing strategies across direct mail, email, and SMS.
  • Serve as the agency’s subject matter expert in direct mail, guiding best practices, innovation, and channel evolution.
  • Partner with clients to identify growth opportunities and align campaign strategies with business objectives.
  • Develop audience targeting, segmentation, and testing strategies to improve campaign performance.
  • Analyze campaign results and deliver actionable insights to optimize ongoing and future initiatives.
  • Own end-to-end execution of direct mail campaigns, including print production, data management, and mailing logistics.
  • Manage vendor relationships across print, data, and postage partners to ensure quality, efficiency, and cost control.
  • Oversee timelines, approvals, and production schedules to ensure on-time and accurate delivery.
  • Ensure compliance with USPS regulations and optimize postage strategies.
  • Maintain high standards for data accuracy, list management, and production quality.
  • Serve as the primary project lead across multiple client engagements, managing scope, timelines, and deliverables.
  • Own project financials including estimates, scopes of work, budgets, and vendor costs.
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams (strategy, creative, data, account) to ensure seamless execution.
  • Identify risks, solve problems proactively, and drive projects forward independently.
  • Contribute to process improvements, documentation, and operational best practices.
  • Act as a primary client contact for direct marketing initiatives, providing strategic guidance and execution oversight.
  • Communicate campaign plans, timelines, and performance insights clearly to stakeholders.
  • Build strong client relationships rooted in trust, transparency, and results.
  • Support new business efforts through proposal development, scoping, and strategic input.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to project management team members.
  • Support workload management and collaboration across the project management function.
  • Potentially supervise team members based on experience and organizational needs.
  • Help elevate overall team capabilities in direct marketing and fulfillment execution.
