About The Position

Direct Line Group (DLG) is evolving, and across every part of our business, teams are embracing new opportunities and putting customers at the heart of everything they do. As a Large & Complex Loss Claims Handler, you will manage your own portfolio of high-value, catastrophic injury and complex motor claims within your delegated authority. You will investigate large loss claims thoroughly, working with experts where needed to ensure full validation, and negotiate fair and reasonable third-party settlements using the most appropriate methods. Additionally, you will act as a technical expert, coaching colleagues, reviewing files, and sharing legal and market developments. Staying up to date with legal and procedural changes will be crucial, as you will assess their impact and shape DLG’s approach. You will also provide technical advice and support to regional claims teams and other business areas, contribute to process improvements, and influence DLG’s large loss claims strategy. Compliance with all regulatory, legal, and risk management requirements is essential, as is representing DLG in industry discussions and managing risks in line with the DLG risk framework.

Requirements

  • Proven track record of handling motor personal injury claims from notification through to settlement in excess of £1m.
  • In-depth understanding of common law principles and legislation relevant to motor insurance claims.
  • Strategic mindset to contribute to the development of large and complex loss claims handling strategies.
