About The Position

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Care Provider to join our team in providing exceptional care and assistance to children and adults with special needs in their home and out in the community. The Direct Care Provider will work closely with clients to support their daily activities, facilitate their personal goals, and enhance their overall quality of life. Providers will play a crucial role in fostering a nurturing and inclusive environment where individuals can thrive and reach their potential.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Previous experience working with children and adults with special needs, either in a professional or volunteer capacity.
  • Strong empathy, patience, and communication skills to effectively connect with individuals with diverse abilities.
  • Understanding of various developmental, behavioral, and medical needs associated with different disabilities.
  • Basic knowledge of therapeutic techniques and strategies for supporting individuals with special needs.
  • CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
  • Fingerprint Clearance card (or willingness to obtain).
  • DCW Training for attendant care if applicable (or willingness to obtain).
  • Pre-employment drug testing is required, including screening for marijuana, due to the sensitive nature of our work with individuals with disabilities and our commitment to a zero-tolerance policy.

Nice To Haves

  • bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., social work, special education) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist clients in performing daily activities, such as personal hygiene, dressing, eating, and mobility, while promoting independence and self-esteem.
  • Collaborate with clients and their families to understand and work on person centered care plans, focusing on achieving specific goals and milestones.
  • Provide emotional support, companionship, and positive reinforcement to clients, creating a safe and welcoming atmosphere.
  • Document clients' progress, behaviors, and any notable observations accurately and comprehensively.
  • Monitor and address any changes in clients' behavior, health, or overall well-being, reporting concerns to the appropriate staff.
