About The Position

As a Direct Care Support Worker, you will provide a key role in providing support and guidance to individuals who have developmental disabilities living in a residential setting. Your primary responsibility will be to assist residents in developing the skills and knowledge necessary to live independently and lead fulfilling lives. Working closely with a diverse group of residents, fostering a safe and inclusive environment that promotes personal growth and empowerment. This position includes morning, evenings, weekends and holidays. Starting pay: $16.50, additional differentials, incentives, and bonuses applicable for hourly rates above $16.50. Hours: Full-time; Flexible shifts including days, evening, weekends, and holidays. Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to establish rapport and effectively interact with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
  • Demonstrated understanding and respect for the rights and privacy of individuals in a residential setting.
  • Ability to respond calmly and effectively in crisis situations, demonstrating problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities, with the capacity to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency in basic documentation.
  • Must pass NM Department of Health background check and drug screening.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience working with individuals with disabilities or in a residential setting is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain a positive and supportive relationship with residents, ensuring their overall well-being and safety.
  • Provide assistance and training to residents in daily living activities, including meal preparation, personal hygiene, and household chores.
  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to develop and implement individualized treatment plans for residents.
  • Facilitate group activities and social events to encourage social interaction and community engagement.
  • Support residents in developing and enhancing their independent living skills, such as budgeting, transportation, and job readiness.
  • Monitor and document residents' progress and behaviors, reporting any concerns or incidents to the appropriate supervisor.
  • Foster a culturally sensitive and inclusive environment that respects and values the diversity of residents and promotes their self-advocacy.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and standards of care governing residential facilities.
