About The Position

Under the supervision of the Program Administrator provide support and training to individuals with developmental disabilities with challenging behavior service needs . The Direct Care Staff shall work under the general direction of the Program Administrator. Expected starting wage range is approximately $25-30/hr Telecare applies geographic differentials to its pay ranges. The pay range assigned to this role will be based on the geographic location from which the role is performed. Starting pay is commensurate with relevant experience above the minimum requirements. 5% shift differential added for AM weekends, 6% shift differential added for PM weekdays, 11% shift differential for PM weekends, 10% shift differential added for NOC weekdays, 15% shift differential added for NOC weekends Shifts Available: AM Shifts (7:00am-3:00pm) Full-Time Friday-Tuesday AM Part-Time Thursday-Saturday AM Part- Time Wednesday-Friday AM PM Shifts (3:00pm-11:00pm): Full-Time Sunday, Tuesday- Saturday PM Short-Hour Monday, Friday & Saturday PM NOC Shifts: (11pm-7am): Full-Time: Sunday-Thursday NOC Telecare’s Cypress House is a four-bedroom home designed to serve Regional Center of the East Bay (RCEB) clients who have challenging and complex needs, and would otherwise be at risk for admission to acute and locked settings or out-of-state placements. Cypress House is a Community Crisis Home, a new program model in California, created to serve residents with developmental disabilities and serious mental illness. This dual diagnosis home will offer residents a calm, welcoming environment where they will receive individualized assistance to stabilize the challenging behaviors and other factors preventing them from living in less intensive placements. Working within each individual’s strengths and developing skills, you can be a member of a multidisciplinary team which will deliver a full range of person-centered services and behavioral supports to help clients successfully transition or return to their preferred community living option.

Requirements

• High School Graduation or G.E.D.
• Six months of experience providing direct care to individuals with developmental disabilities with challenging behavior service needs.
• Complete the required training for the Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) certification within 6 months of initial employment and obtain RBT certification within twelve (12) months of initial employment and maintain credential through employment.
• Within one year of employment, all direct care staff shall complete both segments of Direct Support Professional (DSP) competency-based training course including the competency tests or pass the department-approved challenge tests applicable to both training segments. Proof of prior successful completion of both training segments and competency exams will meet this requirement.
• Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age.
• Must be CPR, First Aid, and CPI certified (hands-on course) on date of employment or prior to providing direct client care and maintain current certification throughout employment.
• All opportunities at Telecare are contingent upon successful completion and receipt of acceptable results of the applicable post-offer physical examination, 2-step PPD test for tuberculosis, acceptable criminal background clearances, excluded party sanctions, and degree or license verification. If the position requires driving, a valid driver license, a motor vehicle clearance and proof of auto insurance is required at time of employment and must be maintained throughout employment.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct client care in 1:1 and group settings utilizing applied behavioral analysis (ABA) principles and natural environment training arrangements.
• Follow the prescribed behavior support plan.
• Collect, record, and summarize data on observable client behavior.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work and therapeutic environment.
• Collaborate with the individual support team and partnering agencies.
• Maintain and acquire technical knowledge by attending required trainings
• Assist and encourage the person served in developing self-reliance in activities including but not limited to, maintenance of well-groomed appearance, maintenance of beds, clothing and living areas in a clean and orderly manner.
• Maintain daily logs and data reports.
• Provide physical care, training, supervision, and recreation of persons served as prescribed in the Individual Program Plan (IPP) and Individual Behavior Support Plan (IBSP) and provided for in the Program Design.
• Act as an appropriate role model for persons served by dressing and behaving in a socially appropriate manner.
• Prepare meals and snacks as indicated on weekly menus while involving persons served in meal preparation tasks to the extent that persons served choose to participate.
• Drive persons served to medical and dental appointments, and any outside activities, as assigned by the Program Administrator or program designee.
• Assist persons served to take self-administered, prescribed medications.
• Must participate in monthly supervision meeting with qualified supervisor. This position must be supervised for 5% of qualifying activities each month by BCaBA or BCBA if applicable.
• Maintains integrity and confidentiality of HIPAA compliance and regulations regarding client information and records.
• Duties and responsibilities may be added, deleted and/or changed at the discretion of management.
