Sentara Princess Anne Hospital, located in Virginia Beach, Virginia, is hiring a full time RNs (Registered Nurses) to join our Medicine Oncology Team. The Registered Nursing (RN) is responsible to perform a competent level of nursing care as demonstrated by the critical thinking model known as the nursing process. The standards of practice (assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, coordination of care- teaching and health promotion and evaluation) along with the standards of professional performance (ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence- based practice /nursing research, quality, evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health) encompass the actions and foundation of professional nursing. The RN possesses clinical knowledge and skills to meet standards as required by specific clinical areas.

  • Perform a competent level of nursing care using the nursing process.
  • Assess, diagnose, identify outcomes, plan, implement, coordinate care, teach, promote health, and evaluate patient care.
  • Care for a varied Med/Surg mixed unit population including oncological patients and those with CHF, COPD, Sepsis, Pneumonia, Diabetes, Sickle Cell, and end of life care.
  • Become knowledgeable in procedures such as wound vacs, high risk medication infusions, telemetry, trach care, chest tubes, and peritoneal dialysis.
  • Participate in hospital committees to share ideas for improving patient care.
  • Collaborate with team members to provide quality care.
  • RN-Associate's Degree, RN-Bachelor's Degree, RN-Diploma, or RN-Master's Degree.
  • Virginia or Compact Multi-State License in good standing.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 90 days of hire.
  • Oncology Care ONS/ONCC or Sentara approved course Chemotherapy & Biotherapy Provider Card within 6 months of hire.
  • New Graduate Nurses are welcome to apply.
  • Experience in a Med/Surg or Oncology setting.
  • Previous nursing experience or clinical rotations in relevant areas.
