The Direct Care Lead at Sunny Glen Children's Home are compassionate and experienced individuals responsible for the caretaking and directing of children in care, as well as designated staff. The Direct Care Lead will provide person-centered mentoring through the implementation of communication/programming, coaching, and teaching and will provide additional overall campus support and understanding as needed. As such, they must display mastery of childcare-related responsibilities, as well as Sunny Glen’s Policy and Procedures. Other duties may apply aside from those listed in the Essential Duties and Responsibilities of the job role. • Must abide by Sunny Glen's mission of giving nurturing, trauma-informed care to children from hard places • Able to supervise direct care staff and provide clear and enforceable instructions • Able to log information accurately, efficiently, and properly • Able to properly supervise and redirect children • Able to maintain professional boundaries as well as immediately report any situation that may raise a concern. • Able to communicate effectively with direct care staff and be fair in his/her approach of job duty assignments. • Able to meet deadlines • Able to maintain an approachable demeanor towards the children and direct care staff, as well • Prevent and intervene in incidents, as needed • Able to provide mentorship to any new employees • Able to assist during fire drills, mock evacuations, etc. • Able to coordinate weekend outings, visits, transportation and staffing • Provide ongoing coaching and training to staff, ensuring alignment with minimum standards/policies/Sunny Glen’s Children's Home procedures and/or Licensing • Implement and abides by TBRI • Provides guidance when implementing loss of privilege in accordance to policy and procedures and Minimum Standards • May administer medication • Attend trainings and meetings, as needed • Ensures proper reporting and communication of child or home incidents and behaviors with supervisors/Clinical/Case management department/and Program Director as appropriate • Will assist with coverage, as needed • Collaborates with Recreational Coordinator for extracurricular activities and outings • Assist in special projects and other duties as assigned by Lead Supervisor • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills • Computer literacy and knowledge of Microsoft Windows • Maintain appropriate boundaries • Work effectively and without intensive supervision both independently • Participate in social, recreational, and psychoeducational activities • Assume responsibility for safe transportation • Assist in the orientation of new residents • Oversee youth's homework, chores, hygiene, and other activities of daily living • Be a positive role model for residents • Teach residents healthy life skills • Set appropriate behavioral limits • Utilize positive child management techniques • Assist youth in shaping their behavior • Charting progress and incidents in KaleidaCare • Participate in licensing investigations • Participate in medical and therapy appointments, if needed • Employer retains the right to change or assign other duties to this position
