The Professional Billing (PB) Clinical Documentation Integrity (CDI) Director plays a crucial role in overseeing the PB CDI program strategy and implementation across UF Health. This position requires a strategic partnership with the UF Health System CDI Director and the PB CDI Manager to effectively plan, organize, implement, and evaluate the PB CDI program. The Director will be responsible for managing various metrics, including evaluation and management (E/M) levels and the Hierarchical Condition Category (HCC)-related risk adjustment factor (HCC-RAF), in collaboration with multiple hospital departments. In this leadership role, the PB CDI Director will oversee the PB CDI Manager and clinical documentation integrity specialists (CDIS). This includes planning and implementing improvements to the CDI processes, as well as re-evaluating these processes to ensure staff engagement and to meet departmental goals. The Director must possess strong critical thinking skills to review medical records, identify undocumented information supported by clinical indicators, and utilize sound judgment in decision-making processes. Balancing reimbursement considerations with regulatory compliance is essential in this role. The PB CDI Director must also demonstrate the ability to motivate employees towards achieving program and organizational goals while functioning effectively in a fast-paced and impactful environment. Flexibility in prioritization is a must, along with a clear understanding of E/M level selection and risk adjustment methodologies, including inpatient, emergency department, and outpatient visits in a professional setting. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, along with strong leadership capabilities, are critical for success in this position.
