About The Position
The Director of Supply Chain position at Alkermes, Inc. is a pivotal role responsible for the strategic and tactical planning of manufacturing and distribution within a multi-product facility located in Wilmington, OH. This position encompasses the overall management of the supply chain, including raw materials, intermediates, and finished goods inventory. The Director will work closely with various teams to achieve corporate supply chain initiatives and site business objectives, ensuring that all supply chain activities align with the company's goals. In this role, the Director will oversee the production control and master scheduling functions for a multi-suite, multi-product facility that is regulated by the FDA and DEA, adhering to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP). The responsibilities include managing new product introductions across all clinical phases, scaling up to commercial production, and ensuring that the master production schedule is optimized for both capacity and materials. The Director will utilize tools such as SAP to strategically manage constraints and perform analyses to determine when reallocations of supply chain resources are necessary due to capacity limits or program changes. The Director will also monitor orders, prioritize and expedite them through the supply chain, and assist with variance analysis to drive corrective actions. They will provide both short- and long-term analyses of capacity requirements based on projected business levels and interact with internal and external supply chain teams to ensure visibility of scale-up and long-term requirements. Participation in the global Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP) process is essential to manage supply chain signals effectively. Additionally, the Director will collaborate with senior management, sales, marketing, finance, and operations to establish global planning objectives and strategies. They will implement initiatives to achieve corporate goals related to on-time delivery and inventory management, develop key metrics to drive supply chain activities, and provide leadership to the production planning, purchasing, and materials management organizations. Mentorship and development plans for the supply chain team will also be a focus, ensuring alignment with corporate objectives and continuous improvement.
