About The Position

The Director of Storage & Compression Engineering will lead engineering and technical support teams, focusing on gas storage, dehydration, and compression operations within energy infrastructure. This role involves managing capital projects and cross-functional initiatives, requiring deep technical knowledge of natural gas compression systems, dehydration processes, and surface facilities. Key responsibilities include directing technical training, consultation, and diagnostic services, rationalizing capital expenditures for safety and reliability, and overseeing major capital and O&M projects. The Director will also provide troubleshooting support for operational issues, develop and maintain O&M standards, and offer technical support for major incident investigations. Additionally, the position entails overseeing technical training and qualification assessments for field personnel, developing records management systems, establishing plant equipment performance standards, and managing functional area budgets. The Director will provide technical support for plant and storage facility design, construction, operations, and modifications across various engineering disciplines, and will be responsible for staffing, developing, training, motivating, and evaluating assigned employees. Requirements

  • Strong leadership experience of engineering and technical support teams, ideally to support operations in the areas of gas storage, dehydration, and compression or related energy infrastructure
  • Demonstrated success managing capital projects and cross-functional initiatives
  • Deep technical knowledge of natural gas compression systems for mainline and storage, dehydration processes, and surface facilities
  • Proven ability to influence, partner, and drive results across teams
  • Bachelor's degree and five years of professional management experience and experience in gas operations; or equivalent
  • Ability to communicate, persuade and/or influence internal and/or external customers at a high level such as senior management on matters of a technical and/or complex nature
  • Ability to perform algebraic, trigonometric and geometric operations and/or moderately complex statistical and/or accounting methods
  • Advanced knowledge of various software applications to create complex documents, reports and/or graphics

Responsibilities

  • Directs, coordinates, and leads processes relating to S&C technical training, consultation and diagnostic services.
  • Rationalizes capital expenditures that elevate safety, compliance, integrity, and reliability of S&C facilities.
  • Leads and monitors execution of major capital expenditures and operation and maintenance (O&M) projects.
  • Directs troubleshooting support on major operational issues.
  • Leads the development and maintenance of O&M standards, specifications and work procedures.
  • Provides technical support on major incident investigations.
  • Oversees the delivery of technical training and qualification assessments of field personnel.
  • Develops systems and standards for records management.
  • Develops major plant equipment performance and efficiency standards and monitors periodic testing.
  • Directs natural gas compression and dehydration engineering, training and troubleshooting support, and regulatory compliance with external agencies.
  • Develops and monitors functional area budgets to assure efficient utilization of resources. Plans and directs the achievement of area goals and objectives with established Company policies.
  • Directs delivery of technical support to the engineering project managers, marketing and gas control on plant and storage facility design, construction, operations and modifications in the areas of automation, civil, electrical, mechanical, measurement, and efficiency/performance engineering.
  • Maintains adequate qualified staffing levels to assure proper administration of activities. Selects, develops, trains, motivates and evaluates the performance of assigned employees.
