About The Position

Myriad Genetics strives to ensure access to the tools driving precision medicine. Myriad is focused on revolutionizing patient care through the discovery, development and marketing of transformative molecular diagnostic tests that address pressing clinical needs across multiple medical specialties. Myriad is seeking a Payer Markets Director to lead our regional payer account team in strengthening Myriad’s partnership with regional and Blue Cross Blue Shield payers. This position will oversee all activities related to managed care with private and public payers and provide strategic leadership in developing and executing payer market strategies that solidify our current successful partnerships with regional payer groups throughout the US. As part of the Payer Markets leadership team, this role will report directly to the Vice President, Payer Markets.

Requirements

  • BS or BA with a minimum of 10 years of proven success leading payer contracting teams, healthcare related sales, team leadership, key account management, contracting, or comparable experience
  • Strategic account management, previous managed care / payer markets contracting experience and in-depth knowledge of the insurance industry is required
  • Payer Markets / Managed Care experience with a biotech company supporting lab testing or diagnostic products and services is required
  • Strong knowledge of healthcare industry, payer markets and validated success working with commercial insurers and government payers
  • Strong organizational, communication, presentation, and negotiation skills
  • This position is preferably located at corporate headquarters in Salt Lake City, Utah but the candidate can reside anywhere in the US near a major airport
  • Approximately 30% travel is required

Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, and support the capability development of Regional Account Managers (RAMs) and Medical Policy Managers (MPMs) via Key Account Management principles, while fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and high performance
  • Develop and execute payer management strategies that address access barriers and variability in plan policies across regional and Blue Cross Blue Shield plans, and formulate new, mutually beneficial initiatives to address the evolving demands of the marketplace
  • Provide strategic oversight and guidance for contracting negotiations, ensuring alignment with pricing, access, compliance, and enterprise objectives
  • Gain detailed operational knowledge of regional account customers and be adept at helping the team identify customer-specific needs and opportunities that drive coverage, reimbursement and ASP/revenue impact
  • Identify and track key performance metrics for managed markets objectives and strategies
  • Together with Sales, Marketing and Customer Service/Billing, assist with launch strategies and tactics for payer markets
  • Collaborate with Billing and Authorization teams to assess payer issues and develop strategies for resolution
  • Partner with Payer Markets Marketing to create necessary managed care and trade materials, including, marketing promotion, and trade presentations
  • Develop the initial and ongoing training of RAMs and MPMs
  • Utilize analytics and market intelligence to identify trends and forecast reimbursement challenges, and inform strategic decision-making
