About The Position

CNO Financial Group’s Finance Department is hiring a Director, FP&A Modeling & Strategic Initiatives to provide complex financial data analysis and modeling for strategic business decisions and Enterprise initiatives. This highly collaborative role serves as the FP&A lead for Enterprise projects and influences and shapes decisions by translating data into actionable insights for senior leaders, driving outcomes through strong project management. As a Director, FP&A Modeling & Strategic Initiatives, your responsibilities will include: Serve as the FP&A project lead and primary point of accountability for enterprise strategic initiatives, including acting as the business lead for FP&A and EPM tool implementations. Lead project-based modeling and analysis to support large corporate initiatives, strategic transactions, and capital investments. Own Drive advanced financial and capital modeling, including analysis of key drivers of free cash flow and their impact on business performance and strategic decisions. Deliver high-quality financial analysis that goes beyond aggregation, focusing on interpretation, insights, implications, and clear recommendations for senior leadership. Partner directly with senior leaders to develop assumptions, scenarios, and projections supporting annual planning, forecasting, and long-range initiatives. Coordinate cross-functional stakeholders, timelines, and deliverables to ensure accurate, timely, and decision-ready financial outputs. Maintain strong financial governance, documentation, and controls across FP&A processes and enterprise initiatives. The Director, FP&A Modeling & Strategic Initiatives position is well-suited for you if you: Possess advanced financial analysis, modeling (including consolidated plan), and reporting expertise Excel as a business partner, translating processes and data into meaningful insights and value-added recommendations for senior leaders Act as a dynamic people leader with experience building, training, and developing high-performing FP&A or analytical teams Are highly collaborative, results-driven mindset with strong problem-solving, decision-making, and communication skills. Associates who live within a 60-mile radius of a corporate office (Carmel, Chicago, and Orlando) have access to come into that office. Associates who live outside of a 60-mile radius of a corporate office (Carmel, Chicago, and Orlando) may perform this role full-time work from home (WFH) from any US based location, as long as you are willing to work central or eastern time zone hours. All associates may be asked to travel to varying corporate offices periodically. Work cannot be performed from outside of the United States.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field
  • 5 years of people management experience
  • 10 years of relevant experience
  • Possess advanced financial analysis, modeling (including consolidated plan), and reporting expertise
  • Excel as a business partner, translating processes and data into meaningful insights and value-added recommendations for senior leaders
  • Act as a dynamic people leader with experience building, training, and developing high-performing FP&A or analytical teams
  • Are highly collaborative, results-driven mindset with strong problem-solving, decision-making, and communication skills.
  • Manage multiple priorities simultaneously while maintaining quality, accuracy, and timeliness.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field
  • CPA
  • 7+ years of people management experience
  • 10+ years of experience in FP&A, corporate finance
  • Demonstrated responsibility for complex financial analysis, modeling, and decision support.
  • Candidate location in Central or Eastern US time zone is preferred OR willingness to work Central or Eastern time zone business hours
