About The Position

The Facilities Maintenance Director/Plant Ops is responsible for overseeing and managing Facility Services, which includes Maintenance, Plant Operations, and Environmental Services. This position requires a minimum of 10 years of facility maintenance leadership experience in a healthcare setting, preferably with a certification as a healthcare facility manager. The role is primarily based at Hill Crest Behavioral Health Services, with up to 25% of the time spent at Alabama Clinical Schools. The director ensures compliance with various regulatory standards and coordinates all plant operations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field preferred.
  • 10+ years of facility maintenance leadership experience in a healthcare setting.
  • Current Driver’s license required.
  • Demonstrated skill in planning, organizing, and achieving objectives.
  • Recognized ability to lead and motivate staff.
  • Working knowledge of healthcare sanitation and plant operations.
  • Knowledge of JCAHO standards and State Regulations regarding EOC and Life Safety.
  • Good interpersonal communication skills and ability to work independently.
  • Basic computer skills desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a facility Safety Officer, responsible for hospital disaster, fire, and safety programs.
  • Conduct fire drills and coordinate regular safety inspections throughout the hospital.
  • Supervise Maintenance staff, ensuring accurate time recording and performance evaluations.
  • Coordinate work schedules for Maintenance and develop departmental budgets.
  • Monitor department spending and schedule annual inspections of fire equipment.
  • Perform regular inspections of building, equipment, and renovation programs.
  • Maintain documentation on hospital routine checks and preventive maintenance.
  • Ensure compliance with Environment of Care Plans and assist in repairs as needed.
  • Attend mandatory in-services and complete all applicable demonstrational competencies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
