About The Position

The Concessions Director with Eastern Michigan University is an exciting opportunity for an energetic, entrepreneurial manager who is constantly seeking a better way to conduct business. This Director is responsible for the successful Concession operations and include a variety of duties including the planning and supervision of special functions, the maintaining of cash controls and payroll records, and the hiring and training of our hourly team members. They also work with catering as it pertains to athletics and ensures customer satisfaction and good public relations through the safe and efficient uses of resources. This role is will require evenings, weekend, and holiday work hours.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of retail, food and catering trends with a focus on quality, production, sanitation, food cost controls, and presentation.
  • Leadership, management and coaching skills.
  • Communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Financial, budgetary, accounting and computational skills.
  • Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office programs, e-mail, the Internet and other necessary computer programs.
  • Proven experience with POS operations.

Nice To Haves

  • A.A. Degree or related experience.
  • Three or more years supervisory experience in food service operations, preferably concessions.
  • Supervisory experience in a large food service operation.
  • TIPS Certified - May be acquired within first 45 days of employement.
  • ServSafe® Certified - May be acquired within first 45 days of employement.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees and provide hands-on support for daily operational tasks.
  • Handles all aspects of staff management, potentially with NPO's, including weekly reporting and tracking.
  • Manages all financials including budget development, forecasting, and financial reporting.
  • Manages cost controls and control expenditures.
  • Purchases and manages inventory.
  • Works closely with EMU Athletics to ensure client satisfaction throughout concessions operations.
  • Coordinates, liaisons, and manages Food Truck agreements as needed.
  • Rolls out new culinary programs in conjunction with marketing and culinary team.
  • Coordinates marketing efforts with the business needs to maximize revenues and satisfaction.
  • Leads safety and compliance efforts.
