Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree -Culinary Arts Degree or equivalent
  • Serv Safe Certification
  • 2 years institutional chef experience
  • Retail and catering experience
  • Working knowledge of al institutional high volume food service production equipment
  • Serv Safe Certification
  • Knowledge of basic therapeutic diets.
  • Knowledge of basic food service sanitation
  • Knowledge of food portion and waste control
  • Knowledge of industrial kitchen operations and procedures
  • Knowledge of industrial equipment and utensils, and skill in utilizing such.
  • Ability to recognize the importance of adapting to the various patient age groups (adolescent, adult and geriatric).
  • Ability to adhere to safety policies and procedures.
  • Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations

Responsibilities

  • Prepares food for patients, cafeteria customers and catering functions, ensuring quality and proper food handling 100% of the time
  • Develops new recipes utilizing new products to improve quality and maintain 100% customer satisfaction. Communicates with Registered Dietitian and Director of Food Nutrition services regarding menus, recipes and changes to maintain appropriate therapeutic diet needs for patients.
  • Trains staff in both hot and cold production areas to enhance job skills and provide opportunity for employees’ advancement.
  • Assists with monitoring food storage areas.
  • Collaborates with the Director of Food & Nutrition Services to develop menus, product enhancement and quality upgrades to ensure 100% customer satisfaction
  • Attend all mandatory facility in-services and staff development activities as scheduled
  • Support facility-wide quality/performance improvement goals and objectives.
