About The Position

Coral Shores Behavioral Health, a subsidiary of UHS, is a beautiful, 80-bed adolescent and adult Baker Act receiving facility, which is located in sunny Stuart, Florida. Our professional staff provide high quality, individualized care to uniquely fit the intensity and severity of each patient’s needs and offer a continuum of mental health and addiction services in a confidential, caring environment that promote crisis resolution, positive self-awareness, personal growth and problem-solving. Coral Shores is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The Business Office Director is responsible for the oversight of daily business office operations in accordance with regulatory requirements and facility policies; Establishes and maintains procedures for filing reimbursement claims & follow up; Maintains proper documentation of cash receipts, revenue, census, bad debt as well as contractual and administrative adjustments; Negotiates contracts and single-case agreements with potential funding sources; Ensures verification of financial coverage of all patients after admission; Coordinates initial financial contracts as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field preferred.
  • Three (3) years of experience in a health care business office position.
  • Experience with managed care agreements.
  • Flexibility to work varied shifts including holidays and weekends, as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily business office operations in accordance with regulatory requirements and facility policies.
  • Establish and maintain procedures for filing reimbursement claims and follow up.
  • Maintain proper documentation of cash receipts, revenue, census, bad debt, and contractual and administrative adjustments.
  • Negotiate contracts and single-case agreements with potential funding sources.
  • Ensure verification of financial coverage of all patients after admission.
  • Coordinate initial financial contracts as needed.
  • Review past due accounts and follow up documents weekly to determine the nature and extent of delinquency problems.
  • Use proper and effective account investigation analysis and settlement techniques.
  • Consistently follow up on problem delinquencies and make determination in coordination with CFO for their proper disposition.
  • Prepare proper documentation for deductions from revenue and present to CFO, CEO and corporate as indicated by the corporate level system.
  • Review end of day reports to verify that patient revenue is generated accurately daily.
  • Calculate daily manual census and ensure accuracy with the computer-generated census.
  • Maintain a current and accurate listing of all accounts in bad debt.
  • Prepare monthly accounts receivable accruals on a timely basis.
  • Adjust accounts according to contacted rate or when adjustments are administratively authorized monthly.
  • Resolve all out of balance problems immediately.
  • Prepare timely deposits and accurately input into computer.
  • Ensure financial data taken by admission personnel is accurate immediately after admission.
  • Prepare and distribute reports as required by supervisor and corporate policy.
  • Manage administrative functions in department including reporting, compliance tracking, analysis of key indicators, participation in investigations, implementation of special programs/projects.
  • Collaborate with managed care to establish out of contact or extra contractual benefits if benefits are not available under normal provisions of policy.
  • Communicate findings to appropriate departments including dollar and time limitations based on information obtained and appropriateness of the case financially.
  • Manage staff functions in department including reporting, compliance tracking, analysis of key indicators, participation in investigations, implementation of special programs/projects.
  • Assess staffing and scheduling practices for quality and cost-effectiveness including but not limited to overtime, break periods, and attendance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned/required by this position.
