About The Position

LanguageLine Solutions is hiring a Dinka-English Phone Interpreter to work from home. The position involves handling calls on demand and rendering the meaning of conversations between Dinka and English speakers across various industries, including healthcare, government, and law enforcement. The interpreter will receive industry-leading training and support, ensuring they develop their skills while working in a certified environment. The role requires maintaining professionalism and cultural sensitivity during interpreting sessions, which may involve complex and emotional topics.

Requirements

  • Fluency in Dinka and English and skilled in the associated cultural dynamics.
  • Excellent listening, retention, and note-taking skills.
  • Ability to concentrate, stay detached from the conversation, and remain neutral and objective.
  • Education or work experience in language-related fields such as teaching, language assessment, translation, or interpretation preferred.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.

Nice To Haves

  • Ability to read and write the requested languages - highly preferred.
  • Experience in handling sensitive subjects such as end-of-life conversations and matters concerning sexual orientation.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to interpreting sessions promptly and conduct interpretation in a friendly and professional manner.
  • Render correct concepts and meanings according to established interpretation protocol, avoiding omissions or additions.
  • Speak clearly in both languages using proper pronunciation, enunciation, and polite expressions.
  • Maintain a professional demeanor throughout the interpreting sessions.
  • Remain calm during interpreting sessions, especially in emergency situations.
  • Maintain punctuality and availability during work hours.
  • Follow client instructions to ensure expectations are met with the Limited English-speaking Person (LEP).
  • Understand protocol and terminology for various industries including Medical, Insurance, Finance, and Law.
  • Demonstrate commitment to cultural sensitivity and working in a diverse environment.
