About The Position

Wesley Manor Retirement Community is seeking an experienced and mission-driven Dietary Services Supervisor to provide leadership, oversight, and accountability for the Dietary Services Department. This role is responsible for ensuring high-quality meal service, regulatory compliance, staff performance, and operational efficiency across all dining venues, including Assisted Living, Health Care Center, and Memory Care service areas. The Dietary Services Supervisor provides direct supervision to Dietary Team Leaders / Mentors and dietary staff, maintains responsibility for staffing and scheduling, oversees inventory and budget controls, and ensures department readiness for inspections and surveys.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required; additional education in food service management, hospitality, or healthcare preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of supervisory or management experience in dietary services, healthcare food service, or hospitality.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of food safety standards, health department regulations, and OSHA requirements.
  • Proven ability to lead teams, manage performance, and maintain regulatory compliance.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy and professionalism.
  • Prolonged standing and walking.
  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds.
  • Frequent bending, reaching, pushing, and carrying.
  • Ability to work in a warm kitchen and food service environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provides direct supervision, guidance, and performance management for Dietary Team Leaders / Mentors and dietary staff.
  • Establishes clear expectations, assigns responsibilities, and evaluates employee performance.
  • Addresses performance concerns through coaching, corrective action, and disciplinary processes in coordination with HR.
  • Ensures consistent leadership presence and accountability across all shifts and dining locations.
  • Oversees departmental scheduling to ensure appropriate staffing for food preparation, service, and sanitation.
  • Manages call-ins, coverage gaps, and staffing adjustments to maintain uninterrupted operations.
  • Participates in hiring decisions, interviews, onboarding, and training of new dietary employees.
  • Ensures compliance with labor standards, scheduling practices, and organizational policies.
  • Ensures meals meet standards for quality, appearance, temperature, accuracy, and timeliness.
  • Oversees tray line operations, dining room service, and kitchen workflow.
  • Monitors resident satisfaction and addresses service concerns promptly and professionally.
  • Maintains responsibility for compliance with state health regulations, food safety standards, OSHA requirements, and infection control practices.
  • Assists with department survey readiness.
  • Conducts routine audits and ensures timely corrective actions for identified deficiencies.
  • Ensures proper food handling, labeling, storage, sanitation, and documentation practices.
  • Oversees food ordering, inventory control, and vendor coordination in alignment with approved budgets.
  • Reviews departmental spending and implements cost-control strategies as needed.
  • Monitors inventory accuracy, storage practices, and product utilization.
  • Maintains communication with vendors to resolve supply issues and ensure service quality.
  • Ensures consistent training standards for dietary staff and mentors.
  • Supports ongoing education, in-service training, and competency development.
  • Promotes a positive, respectful, and team-oriented work environment.
  • Works collaboratively with Nursing, Administration, HR, and other departments to support resident care and organizational goals.
  • Participates in town halls, and required trainings.
  • Communicates operational updates, risks, and improvement opportunities proactively.
