About The Position

The Dining Services Retail Unit Manager (Interim) is responsible for overseeing the general operations of Ramekin Café and Fern Café. This includes ensuring smooth service operations, customer satisfaction, and adherence to safety and sanitary procedures and policies. The manager supervises two full-time union employees and 30-45 student employees, conducts ordering and inventory for both locations, and may cover other dining units as needed. This is a six-month term position based in Hanover, NH, with onsite work only.

Requirements

  • High School diploma plus 5+ years of experience in food service or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Five years of general food service experience including supervisory/management experience.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced food operation and make decisions under pressure.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to maintain accuracy and timing in food preparation.
  • Knowledge of sanitation regulations and ability to obtain sanitation certification.
  • Commitment to a diverse working environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Five years of experience in high quality, large volume food retail or production operation.
  • Minimum five years of supervisory/management experience.

Responsibilities

  • Independently oversee and participate in the day-to-day shift operations for Ramekin Café and Fern Café.
  • Manage operations with revenue exceeding $2.8 million and customer counts in excess of 0.5 million.
  • Assign and reassign workforce as required to balance changes in customer service needs and timing of food preparation.
  • Enforce health and sanitation policies and procedures in compliance with FDA Food Code requirements.
  • Respond to customer comments and complaints regarding food quality and service.
  • Ensure cleanliness and general appearance of the cafés.
  • Develop and implement marketing plans for each unit.
  • Monitor and evaluate work performance of employees.
  • Communicate policies and instructions to employees and ensure compliance with union agreements.
  • Utilize and maintain Computrition software for menu and inventory management.
  • Oversee the Food Shelf (Pantry) including coordination and placing of food orders.
