About The Position

The Dining Services Manager-In-Training (MIT) program at Healthcare Services Group (HCSG) offers a unique opportunity to learn and grow within an established company that has over 45 years of experience in managing dining and nutritional services in the healthcare market. The program lasts approximately sixteen weeks and includes hands-on and computer-based training. Participants will learn various aspects of managing their own account, including food preparation, leadership development, policies and procedures, reporting, and customer service. The role emphasizes the importance of safety, communication, and maintaining high standards of quality in dining services.

Requirements

  • Demonstrate a positive attitude and ability to follow instructions.
  • An associate’s degree or higher in food service management or hospitality is preferred.
  • Specialized training in foodservice management and nutrition is required.
  • Must complete an approved Food Protection Manager course within the first 14 days of employment.
  • Must achieve eLuminate Food Service Manager and Long-Term Care Food Service certifications within the first 60 days.
  • Two years of experience in quantity food production/service and personnel supervision is desired.
  • Basic computer skills for maintaining records and completing reports.
  • Must be able to lift/carry a maximum of 50 pounds and perform routine tasks continuously.
  • Must comply with COVID-19 Vaccination Policies.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a healthcare setting.
  • Certification as a Certified Dietary Manager (CDM).

Responsibilities

  • Learn and perform the job assignments of dietary aide, cook, and dishwasher positions.
  • Lead small groups of line staff in food preparation, serving, and clean-up activities.
  • Provide leadership, support, and guidance to ensure food quality standards and customer service expectations are met.
  • Maintain records of income and expenditures, food, supplies, personnel, and equipment.
  • Train staff to meet HCSG standards and perform quality control assessments.
  • Handle managerial responsibilities including payroll submission, staffing patterns, and budgeting.
  • Communicate directives from client managers and administrators to HCSG staff.
  • Utilize protective gear and adhere to safety precautions.
  • Ensure timely completion of assigned tasks and respond to the paging system promptly.
  • Represent HCSG positively and interact tactfully with residents and staff.
