Requirements

  • At least 18 years of age.
  • Must possess effective English verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must possess or obtain valid First Aid certification within 30 days of hire, as required by Title 22.
  • Must obtain a valid California Food Handler Card (or ServSafe equivalent) within 30 days of hire and maintain compliance with food safety regulations.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous server experience highly preferred.
  • 6 months or more in long term care, home care or related field preferred.
  • Software experience using POS (point-of-sale) transactional systems

Responsibilities

  • Creates a warm, positive dining atmosphere through excellent customer service.
  • Presents menus to residents, explains daily meal options, and provides suggestions as needed.
  • Answers questions about menu items, including ingredients and preparation methods.
  • Records food orders accurately and relays them to the kitchen.
  • Delivers meals and beverages promptly, ensuring appropriate temperatures are maintained.
  • Observes residents to identify and fulfill additional needs or requests.
  • Assists residents with salad and breakfast bar selections and delivers trays as necessary.
  • Clears, cleans, and resets tables efficiently for upcoming meal services.
  • Supports daily dining room setup, including coffee brewing, dessert portioning, and soup or salad bar preparation.
  • Follows established food service policies and infection control procedures.
  • Always maintains safe and sanitary work areas.
  • Promote the Mission, Vision and Values of Transforming Age in all areas of responsibility, and demonstrate commitment to Culture of Excellence and strategic goals
  • Other duties as assigned
