About The Position

The Dining Room Manager at Brookdale Senior Living is responsible for overseeing the dining room operations, ensuring quality dining experiences for residents. This role involves managing staff, maintaining a clean and pleasant dining environment, and ensuring timely service delivery. The position also includes training new associates and managing resident billing for food services.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or two to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Current ServSafe Certification required.
  • Obtain and hold any local, state and/or county required food handling/sanitation licenses and/or certificates.
  • Extensive knowledge of a distinct skill or function and a thorough understanding of the organization and work environment.
  • Outgoing and cheerful personality; energetic, friendly, and organized.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with residents and other employees; ability to follow oral and written directions.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with older adults.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee dining room staff and maintain a pleasant and clean dining environment.
  • Manage daily operations of the dining room, room service, and convenience store.
  • Assign wait staff to designated sections and ensure proper completion of side work.
  • Ensure timely and proper delivery of room service orders.
  • Facilitate smooth opening and closing of the dining room.
  • Ensure adequate staffing for each shift and cover absences as needed.
  • Oversee resident billing of food services charges.
  • Assist in producing weekly schedules within budgetary guidelines for service staff.
  • Lead training for new dining room associates and conduct ongoing training sessions.
  • Supervise special events and assist service staff during mealtime as needed.
  • Assist in greeting and seating residents and guests.
  • Hire, train, discipline, and terminate departmental associates in consultation with the Dining Services Director.
  • Maintain the resident request logbook and forward requests to the Chef or Food Service Director.
