About The Position

The Dining Facility (DFAC) Shift Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily food service operations at the Fort Harrison, Montana Army National Guard DFAC, including off-site support to the Helena Aviation Readiness Center and Limestone Hills Training Area. This role ensures that meal preparation, serving, and cleanup are conducted smoothly and timely during the assigned shift.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in institutional, cafeteria, or military dining operations.
  • Prior supervisory or lead cook experience required.
  • ServSafe Food Handler certification within 30 days of hire (Food Protection Manager certification preferred).
  • Strong organizational and leadership skills; ability to direct a diverse team.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise daily food service operations during assigned shift, ensuring smooth and timely meal preparation, serving, and cleanup.
  • Assign tasks and monitor performance of food service workers and cooks.
  • Verify portion control, quality of meals, and compliance with nutritional and menu standards.
  • Ensure sanitation, hygiene, and food safety practices in accordance with USDA, FDA, and Tri-Service Food Code (TB MED 530).
  • Maintain accountability of government-furnished equipment and report deficiencies.
  • Conduct pre- and post-shift inspections, documenting results in quality control logs.
  • Ensure proper handling of leftovers, waste disposal, and equipment shutdown after meals.
