About The Position

The Director of Digital Strategy and Governance is the central function responsible for providing the strategic direction, operational discipline, and governance framework for the entire Digital Transformation & Technology (DTT) organization. This leader and their team are the engine that ensures the digital transformation is aligned with AdvanSix's core business objectives and acts as a true business accelerator. Reporting directly to the CDIO, this individual will lead a diverse team of leaders and specialists across the Program Management Office (PMO), Enterprise Architecture, Compliance, Workforce Digital Enablement, and Lean Six Sigma. The mission is to create a foundational ecosystem of standardized services and consistent practices that enable a faster, more agile, and growth-focused organization while effectively mitigating risk.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in information technology, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field.
  • 12+ years of progressive experience in a combination of IT strategy, program management, IT finance, and governance roles.
  • 7+ years of experience in a leadership role managing diverse, cross-functional teams.
  • Demonstrated experience establishing and running a Program Management Office (PMO) and governing a large portfolio of technology projects.
  • Strong background in IT financial management, including annual budget planning, forecasting, and tracking for a large organization.
  • Proven experience with IT governance frameworks (e.g., COBIT, ITIL) and managing compliance requirements such as SOX IT controls.

  • Master's degree in business administration (MBA) or a related advanced degree.
  • Experience in the manufacturing, chemical, or related industrial sectors.
  • Certifications such as PMP, CGEIT (Certified in the Governance of Enterprise IT), or Lean Six Sigma Black Belt.
  • Track record of successfully designing and implementing large-scale change management and digital enablement programs.
  • Direct experience in establishing and leading a new "Office of the CIO/CDIO" function.
  • Deep understanding of enterprise architecture principles and practices.

Responsibilities

  • Strategic Framework & Roadmap Ownership: Direct the annual strategic planning process and own the resulting Digital Transformation & Technology roadmap. Govern the framework used for prioritizing initiatives, ensuring all investments are clearly aligned with enterprise business objectives and value creation.
  • Portfolio & Execution Governance: Establish the standards and governance for the entire DTT portfolio and Program Management Office (PMO). Drive a culture of accountability by defining the metrics for execution excellence (e.g., "say-do ratio") and holding program and project leaders accountable for delivery.
  • Enterprise Governance, Risk & Compliance (GRC): Own the DTT governance, risk, and compliance posture for the organization. Direct the team responsible for defining, implementing, and auditing SOX and other DTT controls, ensuring the company's risk exposure is managed effectively.
  • DTT Financial & Performance Management: Hold ultimate accountability for the overarching DTT budget. Direct the processes for financial planning, tracking, and reporting, ensuring fiscal discipline and transparency across the entire DTT organization.
  • Enterprise Architecture Direction: Set the direction for the Enterprise Architecture function. Ensure the architectural vision and standards align with long-term business strategy, guiding the organization toward a scalable, secure, and modern technology landscape.
  • Process Excellence & continuous Improvement: Own deployment and oversight of Lean Six Sigma methodologies, to ensure process efficiency and operational maturity are central to governance.
  • Transformation Communications & Change Leadership: Own the overarching strategy for change management and communications related to the digital transformation. Direct the workforce enablement team to foster a culture of digital literacy and readiness for AI, ensuring successful adoption of new technologies and processes.
  • Executive Advisor: Serve as the primary advisor to the CDIO on matters of strategy, execution, portfolio performance, and risk. Synthesize complex information into clear insights to support executive decision-making.
