As a Digital Services Web Server Administrator at GDIT, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the security and efficiency of web server operations that support national safety and security. This position involves managing web server installations, configurations, and maintenance, while also collaborating with development and IT teams to enhance system performance and reliability.

Install and configure web server software (e.g., Apache, Nginx, IIS) and related components.
Regularly update and patch web servers to ensure they are secure and performing optimally.
Monitor server performance and troubleshoot issues to ensure high availability and reliability.
Implement and maintain security measures to protect web servers from threats and vulnerabilities.
Manage backup and recovery processes to ensure data integrity and availability in case of server failure.
Maintain accurate documentation of configurations, procedures, and policies.
Work closely with development and IT teams to support web application deployments and ensure smooth operation.
Provide support to users and developers for web server-related issues and inquiries.
Manage and resolve support tickets in a timely and efficient manner, ensuring user satisfaction.
Provide excellent customer service by effectively communicating with users and stakeholders, addressing their concerns, and providing solutions.
Develop and maintain automation scripts to streamline server management tasks.
Ensure that web server operations comply with organizational policies and industry standards.

Technical Training, Certification(s) or Degree
3+ years of related experience
Hands-on experience with web server software such as Apache, Nginx, and IIS
Experience with Linux and Windows server environments
Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Bash, Python, PowerShell)
Strong understanding of network protocols, DNS, SSL/TLS, and web security practices
Familiarity with database management systems (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL)
Experience with monitoring tools and performance tuning
Knowledge of configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible, Puppet, Chef)
Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud)
Experience with containerization and orchestration tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes)
Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
Relevant certifications such as AWS Certified SysOps Administrator, Red Hat System Administrator (RHSA), Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate

Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud)
Experience with containerization and orchestration tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes)
Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
