About The Position

Digital Communications Project Management Lead the planning and execution of digital communications projects, including graphics, infographics, presentations, animations, and visual storytelling products. Manage project schedules, deliverables, and resource coordination across multiple concurrent initiatives. Coordinate with graphic designers, illustrators, web developers, and communications staff to deliver high-quality digital products. Translate stakeholder requirements into clear project plans and production workflows. Visual Content Development Oversee the development of visual content used in: Press kits Scientific outreach materials Conferences and exhibits Multimedia storytelling initiatives Social media campaigns Ensure visual materials effectively communicate complex scientific concepts to broad audiences. Scientific Communications Support Collaborate with scientists, researchers, and subject matter experts to ensure technical accuracy in visual communications. Support the translation of research discoveries and policy initiatives into accessible visual formats. Design Production Coordination Manage digital design workflows using tools such as Adobe Creative Cloud. Coordinate the development of: Infographics Scientific illustrations Animated content PowerPoint presentations Multimedia visual assets. Accessibility and Compliance Ensure all digital products comply with Section 508 accessibility standards . Ensure materials align with federal plain-language communication requirements where applicable. Maintain compliance with NSF branding guidelines and visual identity standards. Stakeholder Engagement Serve as the primary coordination point between communications staff, creative teams, and stakeholders. Gather requirements, provide project updates, and manage feedback cycles throughout the production process. Special Digital Initiatives Support development of specialized digital experiences such as interactive content, immersive visual media, or multimedia exhibits used for public engagement and scientific outreach.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in one of the following fields: Digital Media, Graphic Design, Visual Communications, Multimedia Production, Communications, Marketing, Journalism, Science Communication, Or a related discipline
  • Minimum 7 years of professional experience managing digital communications, multimedia production, or creative services projects
  • Minimum 3 years of experience managing digital design or multimedia production teams
  • Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously in fast-paced communications environments
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud tools (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, After Effects)
  • Experience managing visual storytelling and infographic development
  • Strong understanding of digital design workflows and multimedia production processes
  • Familiarity with Section 508 accessibility standards for digital content
  • Experience coordinating with cross-functional teams including designers, developers, and communications staff
