The Digital Production Developer role at Pratt Institute is focused on managing digital fabrication technologies and enhancing workflows through innovative data analysis systems. The successful candidate will ensure equipment maintenance, adherence to safety protocols, and the completion of projects to high standards while also researching new technologies and methods to improve lab productivity and creativity.

  • Manage a team of student work-study operators and production assistants.
  • Provide training and support to lab users.
  • Coordinate with customers on projects.
  • Lead the development of new applications for digital fabrication.
  • Develop new tools and workflows around IT data analytics.
  • Turn concepts and new product visions into reality, managing planning, processes, and project details.
  • Define the protocol and establish a scope of testing required to prove and validate a concept.
  • Evaluate and implement new equipment in collaboration with Digital Production Managers.
  • Head the training and management of student workers.
  • Advise and train facility users in the safe and proper use of digital fabrication equipment.
  • Assist in the development of communication campaigns for internal and external audiences.
  • Apply contemporary workflows to operations and evolve efficiencies.
  • Ensure optimal functionality of all fabrication equipment and peripherals, including hardware and software support.
  • Contact and coordinate with hardware or software vendors for service.
  • Prepare materials documenting both end-user procedures and technical methods.
  • Assist in the development of efficient digital file submission, processing, and troubleshooting.
  • Perform various administrative duties relating to the operations of production facilities.
  • Implement facility policies and protocols.
  • Provide additional support to ITL operations and perform all other duties as required.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in digital fabrication productions.
  • Minimum of two years experience in 3D design software, including file creation and advanced design integrity troubleshooting.
  • Operational experience with varied hardware or digital fabrication equipment, including setup, configuration, and deployment.
  • Ability to be flexible, work as part of a team, and work independently.
  • Strong organizational skills, data entry, and data management.
  • Professionalism in communication skills with both faculty and students.
  • Experience or interest in fabrication software (Fusion 360/RoboDK/HAL/Grasshopper/Etc).
