About The Position

Capital B is seeking a Digital Platforms Producer to help shape how our journalism travels across platforms. This role is focused on execution and format creation; mining the internet for new, effective ways to speak to Black audiences and translating those insights into compelling social content. This producer will manage day-to-day social publishing and help bring social-first series to life that extend the reach and impact of Capital B’s reporting. The ideal candidate is deeply online, highly attuned to Black culture and digital conversation, fluent across major social platforms, news-savvy, and excited to experiment while consistently delivering polished, timely work. They are comfortable creating social video and visual storytelling assets, including graphics and promotional materials for external campaigns and events.

Requirements

  • 2-3 years of experience managing social media accounts for a media brand, newsroom, or mission-driven organization
  • Strong video editing skills and comfort producing social-first content
  • Deep interest in news and familiarity with what Black audiences are talking about
  • Curiosity and enthusiasm about experimenting and building
  • A sharp writing voice and strong news judgment
  • Comfort working on multiple projects across platforms in a collaborative newsroom
  • Experience with social media tools such as Canva, Sprout, Buffer, and/or Hootsuite
  • Ability to translate article visuals and data into compelling, platform-native carousel graphics using Canva

Responsibilities

  • Package and publish Capital B’s reporting, newsletters, and partner content for Capital B’s social channels, adapting each piece to fit the tone, format, and expectations of different platforms
  • Craft visually compelling, social-first video using editing tools like Adobe Premiere Pro
  • Execute and help evolve repeatable, social-first formats and series that encourage recurring audience habits
  • Generate creative ideas in collaboration with editors, informed by news cycles, internet culture, and conversations happening in Black communities
  • Identify strong moments in reporting that translate well to social platforms
  • Support promotions for newsletters, major investigations, breaking news, and special projects
  • Contribute insights to daily and weekly reports on audience growth and engagement
