About The Position

The Department of Administration’s General Services Division (GSD) is looking for a Digital Merchandising Specialist to join their small team responsible for collecting and liquidating State and Federal surplus property. Surplus property includes assets such as office equipment and furniture, vehicles, heavy machinery, and other unique and interesting items. These items are made available to be reused by state agencies, local governments, schools, eligible non-profit organizations, and the public. This Team member provides excellent customer service and support while performing all aspects of digital sales including creating online listings, collecting, and processing payments, title work, and preparing goods for shipping. Additionally, and equally as important, you would provide support to your teammates in the other areas of Surplus Property this includes picking up and moving office furniture and other surplus items and assisting with set-up of public sales.

Requirements

  • Associates degree in business, marketing or related field and two years’ experience.
  • Alternate combinations of education and experience will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
  • Knowledge of traditional and emerging digital marketing channels
  • Knowledge of principles and best practices for online sales
  • Knowledge of principles and methods of displaying, promoting, and selling products using online merchandising platforms, etc.
  • Ability to provide excellent professional customer service
  • Ability to communicate appropriately in a variety of settings using professional judgment and discretion
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
  • Ability to photo stage and enhance using a variety of cameras
  • Ability to problem solve, analyze data, understand trends and develop recommendations for action based on the analysis
  • Ability to think creatively and innovatively
  • Ability to work independently with little supervision and as part of a Team
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical individuals
  • Ability to integrate social media resources to business needs to improve customer relations, agency visibility, and quality of communications to both internal and external entities
  • successful completion of a criminal background check
  • valid Montana driver’s license
  • Intermittent walking, standing, climbing, stooping, bending, kneeling, reaching, and heavy lifting and carrying.
  • Work outdoors and in a non-climate-controlled warehouse, at times in extreme weather conditions and around moving objects and vehicles.
  • Uses proper PPE and safety procedures when exposed to loud noises, etc.
