PenFed is hiring a Digital Media Intern to work onsite at our Tysons, Virginia location. The primary purpose of this job is to provide overall support to the social media team through a variety of tasks. The main responsibilities will fall under social media strategy and analytics, research, content creation, and content calendar management. It's an exciting and fast-paced environment full of collaboration with direct teammates, other PenFed Credit Union departments, and the PenFed Foundation team. This will be a temporary summer position from June 9th through August 15th.

Requirements

• Equivalent combination of education and experience is considered.
• Currently pursuing or have completed a Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Digital Media, or a related field.
• Strong written and verbal communications skills.
• Must be in office in Tysons, VA 2-3 days a week.
• Proficient in major social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube).
• Creative thinker with an eye for detail and visual storytelling.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, Basecamp, Meta Business Suite, is a plus.
• Comfortable with therapy dogs as we often times film with and work with a dog.

Responsibilities

• Conduct research on topics relevant to PenFed Credit Union and The PenFed Foundation events/social media, competitor content, and emerging platform features.
• Assist in researching audience behavior, demographics, and engagement patterns to inform social media strategy.
• Assist in preparing weekly, monthly, and quarterly analytics reports for the team and leadership.
• Identify patterns and opportunities from analytics to inform future content planning.
• Support creation of visually compelling and brand-aligned social posts for Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and YouTube.
• Assist in maintaining and coordinating the content calendar by writing engaging and on-brand captions for social media posts.
• Schedule and publish content using social media management tools like Meta Business Suite.
• Coordinate post approvals and feedback with relevant team members.
• Collaborate with departments across the organization to gather content ideas and amplify internal initiatives.
• Participate in team meetings and brainstorming sessions, and contribute creative ideas.
• Perform administrative tasks, general support, or special projects with the social media team as needed.
• Assist with PenFed Digital content shoots and PenFed Foundation events when needed.
