The American Museum of Natural History is one of the world's preeminent scientific and cultural institutions, and has as its mission to discover, interpret, and disseminate information about human cultures, the natural world, and the universe through a wide-ranging program of scientific research, education, and exhibition. The Communications department is seeking a full-time Digital Media Asset Manager to effectively organize the department's growing library of photography and video for proactively managing its efficient use in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. • Respond to photo and video requests from internal teams, helping staff identify and access assets that align with their needs and brand guidelines for production of materials for marketing campaigns, membership campaigns, corporate relations outreach and educational resources, among others.
  • Track licensing, appearance releases, permissions and usage rights for photography and video to ensure they are used within the correct scope.
  • Proactively identify opportunities to improve workflows and project tracking
  • Coordinate with colleagues in the Library on Orange DAM permissions and usability as well as to accession media based on established asset lifecycles.
  • Coordinate with Digital and IT colleagues and other partners to implement system backups, customization, upgrades and troubleshooting.

  • Provide regular systems reports and leverage data to anticipate future needs such as storage. Provide usability reports to proactively identify how assets are being used and identify gaps or needs.
