About The Position

The University of Maryland Global Campus (UMGC) seeks adjunct faculty to teach in the Digital Media and Web Technology Program. Specifically, we are seeking faculty for the course Digital Media and Society (CMST 301), which surveys technological advancements in digital media and their societal impacts. The course aims to explain how digital media has transformed communication and to promote responsible choices in digital media creation and consumption, considering global, social, ethical, and legal contexts. Topics include social media, visual information display, ethics and privacy, participatory media, and the cultural impact of digital media.

Requirements

• Master's degree in a related field from an accredited institution of higher learning.
• Professional experience in digital media.
• Experience teaching adult learners and distance education is highly preferred.
• This position is specifically to teach onsite at Fort Drum, NY.

Nice To Haves

• Terminal degree (Ph.D., Ed.D., etc.) from a regionally accredited institution.
• Knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud applications (Illustrator, After Effects, InDesign, Photoshop, Premier, or Animate).
• Knowledge of web technology (web design, development, or programming).
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, and Access).
• Knowledge of Virtual Reality (Unity or Unreal).

Responsibilities

• Actively engage students through frequent interaction that motivates them to succeed.
• Guide students in active collaboration and the application of their learning in problem- and project-based learning demonstrations.
• Provide rich and regular constructive feedback, utilizing rubrics effectively for the assessment of student work.
• Demonstrate relevant and current subject-matter expertise.
• Provide feedback to the program chair on possible curricular improvements.
