About The Position

The Executive Office of Technology Services and Security (EOTSS) is the lead enterprise technology organization for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Charged with driving the ongoing alignment of business and technology across the Commonwealth’s Executive Branch, EOTSS oversees and manages the enterprise technology, digital infrastructure and services, as well as the Commonwealth Security Operations Center and an enterprise Standard Operating Environment that includes an information security and risk management framework for over 125 state agencies and over 43,000 state employees. We directly serve our constituents by providing digital services and tools that enable taxpayers, drivers, businesses, visitors, families and other citizens to do business with the Commonwealth in a way that makes every interaction with government easier, faster, and more secure. About the role: Are you interested in ensuring that all the sites that we deliver adhere to our policies and standards to ensure we provide the best, consistent experience for our constituents? We’re looking for a well-organized and purpose driven Digital Governance and Policy (DiGov) Intern to join our Digital Governance team at the Massachusetts Digital Service (Mass Digital). You’ll collaborate with our agency partners and the digital governance team to accelerate the work and impact to deliver governed sites quickly and compliant. As a Digital Governance and Policy Intern, you have a strong and an understanding of the need for standards to ensure our constituents’ experience and outcomes are consistent and trusted when engaging with government services. In this role you will: Work with the director of digital governance and analyst to plan and execute on governance plans Contribute to the analysis of sites that need to be deployed to mass.gov, ensuring accurate and up to date information on the status of each of the sites, and follow up on missing information. You will participate and contribute to our upcoming initiatives This position is a full-time internship. The work schedule for this position is Monday through Friday, 9:00AM to 5:00PM EST, in a remote hybrid arrangement with 4-8 days per month spent at the primary work location: One Ashburton Place, Boston, Massachusetts 02108. Applicants should be located within reasonable commuting distance from the primary work location. The duration of this summer internship is from Monday June 1st through Friday, August 7th, 2026.

Requirements

  • High school diploma and either some college education or other relevant experience
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Be collaborative and inclusive when taking part in projects

Nice To Haves

  • Interest in government tech/government service
  • Interest in digital governance and standards to minimize risk and provided trusted sites to constituents
  • Managing and creating CMS (content management) and publishing content
  • Proficiency in SharePoint – contribute to maintaining the TSS-DiGov site with content updates
  • ServiceNow or a customer service platform – look up tickets, respond to questions, and help maintain data hygiene
  • Intermediate to Advanced Excel – power query experience is bonus – setting up power query to assist with improving the trackers as we consolidate into a single source of truth
  • Analytical skills and a logical approach to data analysis and processes
  • Potential majors: Public policy, UX design, Data management

Responsibilities

  • Assisting with the Trust Center site development
  • Contribute to the development of the Trust Center with the Mass.gov CMS
  • Support drafting a layered Privacy Statement, taking direction from the director of DiGov.
  • With guidance from the Director and business analyst for Digital Governance, refresh Domain policy public content, include new touch points and requirements
  • Assist with maintaining and updating the TSS-DiGov SharePoint site
  • Assist with maintaining and updating data across trackers and asset catalog
  • Ability to clean, analyze, and add information to our digital catalog
