About The Position

The Digital Forensics Analyst position at the City of Fresno involves performing specialized examinations of physical evidence related to computer and digital forensics. The role includes conducting digital forensic activities to uncover, examine, and preserve digital data for evidence, as well as providing courtroom testimony. Analysts will engage in complex examinations, including the processing of digital evidence and field investigations at crime scenes. This position requires handling sensitive and explicit content and may involve working irregular hours, including weekends and holidays.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in digital forensics, computer science, or a related field.
• Two years of experience in digital/computer forensics within a law enforcement agency or private organization.
• Possession of a valid California Driver License at the time of appointment.
• Must successfully complete a Computer Voice Stress Analyzer (CVSA) and/or polygraph test, and an extensive background investigation prior to appointment.
• Obtain and maintain certifications such as Cellebrite Certified Physical Analyst (CCPA) and Magnet Certified Forensic Examiner (MCFE) within one year of appointment.

Responsibilities

• Perform specialized physical evidence examinations related to computer and digital forensics.
• Conduct digital forensic activities to uncover and preserve digital data for evidence.
• Process and analyze digital evidence, including disassembly of computer hardware and forensic imaging of digital media.
• Examine data related to criminal offenses and recover data from cellular telephones and digital media.
• Conduct field investigations at crime scenes to search for, collect, and preserve evidence for laboratory analysis.
• Reconstruct situations with physical and digital evidence to demonstrate proof of connection to crimes.
