About The Position

The Vermont State Police is seeking a Digital Forensic Examiner II to join the team at the digital forensics lab in Waterbury, VT. The selected candidate will analyze data from a wide range of electronic devices, including cell phones, computers, laptops, and other mobile devices. Using state-of-the-art technology, industry tools, and law enforcement-specific software, the candidate will produce detailed forensic reports and maintain accurate evidence records. Regular collaboration with law enforcement officers is expected to support ongoing investigations. Additional responsibilities include the extraction of digital evidence, routine evidence maintenance, and participation in court proceedings, including providing expert testimony as needed. Ideal candidates will have at least one year of prior experience working as a digital forensic examiner in a law enforcement agency. The individual selected for this position will be expected to work independently through their assignments and have the sufficient knowledge to train newly hired Digital Forensic Examiners with no prior experience.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, cyber security, or another relevant field AND one (1) years or more of experience in digital forensics.
  • Associate's degree, or two (2) years of college coursework, in computer science, cyber security, or other relevant field AND two (2) years or more of experience in digital forensics.
  • High school diploma or equivalent AND four (4) or more years of experience in digital forensics.
  • Candidates must pass any level of background investigation applicable to the position to include Motor Vehicle/Criminal Records, Personal History, Credit and any additional background check(s).

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Experience in the field of law enforcement.
  • Industry leading certifications such as the Certified Computer Forensic Examiner (CFCE).
