Have the specific skillset and experience for the following role: The Digital Engineering Specialist reports to the Digital Engineering Manager for functional leadership and to the Systems Engineering Manager for project delivery. This role is primarily responsible for the implementation, configuration, administration, and optimization of digital engineering tools and systems that support Terrestrial Energy's IMSR reactor development program. This role serves as the technical owner of the engineering tool stack, including Product Lifecycle Management (PLM), Application Lifecycle Management (ALM), requirements management, and engineering analysis software. The successful candidate will lead software verification and validation activities, ensure compliance with nuclear quality assurance standards, manage data quality and system integrations, and support the advancement of Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and digital engineering capabilities across the organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Systems, Nuclear, Electrical, Chemical, or related engineering discipline) preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent technical field will be considered.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in digital engineering, PLM/ALM implementation, engineering IT, or related technical roles.
  • Demonstrated experience with PLM system implementation, configuration, and administration (Windchill experience highly preferred).
  • Proven experience conducting software verification and validation activities for engineering analysis tools or COTS software.
  • Experience in highly regulated industries (nuclear, aerospace, defense, medical devices, or similar) preferred.
  • Experience with requirements management tools, engineering analysis software, and digital engineering ecosystems.
  • Expert knowledge of PLM systems, particularly PTC Windchill (configuration, customization, workflows, administration).
  • Strong understanding of software quality assurance principles and nuclear software QA standards (ASME NQA-1, CSA N286.7, IEEE standards).
  • Experience with requirements management tools (e.g., Codebeamer, DOORS, Jama, Polarion, Innoslate) and ALM platforms.
  • Familiarity with engineering analysis software including CAD systems, FEA/CFD tools, reactor physics codes, thermal-hydraulic codes, and process simulation tools (e.g., ASPEN).
  • Knowledge of data management, database concepts, and system integration approaches (APIs, data exchange formats, middleware).
  • Understanding of configuration management, version control, and change control processes.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite and technical documentation tools.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills for complex technical systems.
  • Excellent technical communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills with ability to manage multiple priorities and initiatives.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively with engineering, IT, quality assurance, and external vendors.
  • Self-motivated with strong ownership mentality and ability to drive initiatives independently.
  • Customer service orientation with commitment to supporting end-user needs.
  • Adaptable and flexible in a fast-paced, evolving organizational environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree.
  • Experience in the nuclear industry (CANDU, SMR, advanced reactors, or other nuclear technologies).
  • PTC Windchill certification or other PLM platform certifications.
  • Python programming experience for automation, scripting, and system integration.
  • Experience with SQL, JavaScript, APIs, and scripting languages for data manipulation and system integration.
  • Experience managing servers (Windows/Linux) for engineering applications and tools.
  • Familiarity with Integrated Development Environments (IDEs) such as Visual Studio Code, PyCharm, or Jupyter.
  • Experience with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) tools and methodologies (SysML, Cameo, etc.).
  • Familiarity with digital twin concepts and implementation.
  • Knowledge of Canadian (CNSC) and/or US (NRC, DOE) nuclear regulatory frameworks and software qualification requirements.
  • Experience implementing or auditing against nuclear quality standards (CSA N286 series, ASME NQA-1, 10 CFR Part 50 Appendix B).
  • Experience with cloud-based engineering platforms and SaaS applications.
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity principles and secure engineering practices.
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng. or PE) designation or eligibility.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
  • ITIL or similar IT service management certification.
  • Passion for digital transformation and clean energy technologies.
