About The Position

As a Digital/Electrical/Instrumentation & Control (I&C) Plant Support Engineer at Comanche Peak Power Station in Glen Rose , TX your responsibilities will include the following: Key Accountabilities: Serving as the system expert specifically in electrical or I&C systems in support of operating requirements. Providing solutions for Problem Solving, Decision Making, Troubleshooting. Trending system parameters and monitoring performance of assigned systems. Preparing technical engineering products: reports, evaluations, and equipment failure analysis. Developing/verifying outage and routine maintenance activity lists. Developing and completing investigations and corrective actions in accordance with the Corrective Action Program. Performing field walk-downs and interfacing with other groups to resolve emergent and routine plant issues. Reviewing schedules and maintenance work orders to ensure efficient work implementation/scheduling. Championing system design change improvements and enhancements. Actively seeking formal and informal learning opportunities to better understand technical policies, practices, and procedures. Develop effective working relationships with other departments and employees within you own work group to establish a professional network Performing Emergency Response Organization (ERO) duties as assigned. Digital Key Accountabilities: Performing Software Quality Assurance (SQA) activities including development, procurement, operation, use, maintenance, and retirement of software and firmware commensurate with its importance to plant safety, reliability, and economic operation. Perform/describe digital maintenance activities as follows: Access control administration System files maintenance System monitoring through logging, error detection, and diagnostics. Implementation of software modifications/updates/patches and virus/security updates. Perform/discuss cyber-attack response, disaster, and recovery plans for a given digital system Perform/describe digital system backup and restoration processes Describe digital system/equipment configuration control. Use a plant digital system configuration document and explain the key elements. Perform a maintenance operation/function for an Operating System and language.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Technical Engineering Field required.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and strong analytical ability.
  • Able to deliver quality and accurate work within established deadlines.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with ability to make formal technical presentations to various management levels.
  • Ability to work extended hours, shift schedules and perform on-call duties when necessary.
  • Must reside within site-specific Emergency Response Organization (ERO) response time. i.e., live in the ~1.5-hour drive radius of the plant.
  • Support 30-day outage schedule.
  • Teamwork and collaboration skills across organizational boundaries.
  • Able to communicate routine issues effectively through written and verbal communication.
  • Maintain effective working relationships across organizational boundaries
  • Understanding of power generation equipment and system interrelationships.
  • Able to apply problem solving processes to address routine issues.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering is preferred.
  • Experience in electrical and/or I&C systems is preferred.
  • Prior plant system engineering experience, including experience with electrical, and I&C components, is preferred.
  • Being able to work independently with little Supervisory involvement is preferred.
