About The Position

About the Position: The Digital Content Creator supports content production and planning, capture, editing and distribution across video, podcast, and digital media for NACo, amplifying the voice of America’s counties and showcasing NACo’s priorities. This role combines creative storytelling, technical production, and digital content postproduction expertise to produce compelling multimedia content that engages NACo members, policymakers, and partners. The ideal candidate will bring creative vision, technical expertise, and a can-do attitude- he or she will be able to conceptualize, storyboard, film, edit, animate and distribute high-quality video, podcast, and animated media content in support of the audience growth and platform optimization strategy. This position supports on-site production, NACo event production, and production in the NACo in-house studio.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in film, communications, journalism, digital media, or a related field.
  • 3–5 years of professional experience supporting video, podcast, or multimedia production
  • Portfolio of video, podcast, and digital animation work within in-house, agency, or media roles
  • Expertise in video and audio production software: Adobe Premiere Pro, Audition, After Effects, Illustrator, Photoshop
  • Strong understanding of digital storytelling, audience engagement, and platform-specific optimization (YouTube, Spotify, Apple Podcasts, LinkedIn, etc.)
  • Exceptional storytelling instincts, visual creativity, and attention to detail.
  • Strong project management and multitasking skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including scriptwriting and interviewing

  • Familiarity with local government or public policy issues a plus
  • Experience with professional photography a plus

Responsibilities

  • Support the production of consistent high-quality video, podcast, and digital content production—duties can include concepting, scripting, shooting, editing, animating, and final distribution of assets
  • Direct on-camera interviews, voiceovers, and live recordings
  • Collaborate across departments to support integrated campaigns, programs, and events through video and audio storytelling
  • Create storyboards, scripts, interview guides, and production plans for multimedia projects
  • Edit and package content across various channels, including social-first video and motion graphics
  • Support the operations, management and maintenance of all video, audio, lighting, and production equipment, ensuring readiness and proper use for both on-site and in the studio
  • Recommend upgrades or new technology to enhance NACo’s production capabilities when applicable
  • Maintain brand standards and ensure consistency in tone, quality, and visual style across all multimedia assets
  • Utilize best practices and compliance for file storage, metadata, and archiving
  • Support onsite content captured at NACo’s conferences, and other events, including interviews, live sessions, and highlight reels
  • Participate in pre-event planning and on-site production logistics, including equipment setup, lighting, and audio
  • Quickly edit and publish short-form and long-form video content from events to maximize audience engagement and timeliness
  • Support audience develop efforts grow engagement, SEO and viewership across YouTube, podcast platforms, digital and social channels and assists the social media content team, leveraging analytics to track engagement and refine content formats, tone, and release schedules
  • Lead the development of video and podcast packaging style guide, including branding, aspect ratio, and best practices for both longer media content and social media content.
  • Collaborate with digital and communications staff to cross-promote content through NACo’s website, email, and social channels
