About The Position

The Digital Communication Specialist at the Town of Clayton is responsible for managing and enhancing the town's digital presence, ensuring that the website is current, visually appealing, and user-friendly. This role involves collaboration with various departments to maintain accurate online information and support communication efforts through high-quality photography and graphic design. The specialist will report to the Communication Director and play a key role in improving user experience and engagement through effective content management and design.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Marketing, or related field with emphasis in digital content marketing.
  • At least 3-5 years of experience in writing, publishing, content creation, or website content management, preferably in a mid-size or large organization.
  • Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Knowledge of website content management systems (WordPress, Granicus, CivicPlus) and web design principles.
  • General knowledge of ADA compliance requirements for web content.
  • General knowledge of SEO best practices and web analytics tools.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with graphic design and photo editing using Adobe Creative Suite and Canva.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees.
  • Exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and follow-through.

Responsibilities

  • Edit, update, and manage content on the Town of Clayton's website.
  • Ensure website navigation is intuitive and user-friendly.
  • Design and maintain web pages using a template-based website platform.
  • Ensure the website is ADA compliant.
  • Collaborate with various departments to ensure accurate and relevant information is posted.
  • Monitor website analytics to improve user experience and content engagement.
  • Create visually appealing graphics for the website, social media, and print materials.
  • Design promotional materials such as banners, posters, and infographics.
  • Capture high-quality photographs of Town events, facilities, and personnel.
  • Edit and enhance photos for use on the website, social media, and other digital platforms.
  • Maintain an organized digital photo library.
  • Work closely with various Town departments to understand their communication needs and objectives.
  • Provide guidance and support to departments in creating and maintaining web content.
  • Facilitate regular meetings with department contacts to gather updates and feedback.
  • Train select staff members on how to edit and update the website.
  • Respond to requests and inquiries from Town staff and the general public.
  • Assist with writing, editing, and proofreading projects produced by various internal departments used for web content.
  • Assist with coverage of special events.
