About The Position

The Digital Collections Librarian develops the library's digital book collections that are accessible to all Kansans, including the selection and acquisition of new materials. The librarian provides direct customer support for digital book collections and statewide databases, including providing support for access, technical, content, and general issues. The librarian delivers training, arranges vendor training, creates on-demand tutorials, and develops documents that assist librarians and Kansans in using the state's electronic resources.

Requirements

  • Either enrolled in (with an anticipated completion date no later than December 31, 2025) OR completed a Master's degree in Library Science (or equivalent) from an ALA-accredited institution
  • Current driver's license
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of standard office software, especially MS Excel
  • Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to communicate and engage with users of varying backgrounds and educational levels, and to teach and train effectively
  • Ability to solve problems and apply critical thinking skills needed to analyze issues and questions
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment within a limited sphere
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships

  • Previous experience working in a library environment
  • Course work or job experience in collection development management, electronic resource management, and/or community needs analysis
