About The Position

APCO is seeking seniors and recent graduates to join our full-time, paid internship program. Our interns experience on-the-job training in client services and will be embedded with one or more of our five North American office teams. Interns are treated as professional staff, participate in team meetings and actively contribute ideas, and support the overall management and growth of client work and the firm. APCO’s Integrated Services practice is made up of our technical expert teams in research, advertising, creative, digital and earned media. We are responsible for informing, creating and executing strategies, programs and campaigns that break through to audiences that matter to our clients. This intern role will flex across these teams with various responsibilities. This internship can sit at APCO's New York or Raleigh office.

Requirements

  • Recent college graduate or senior in class standing
  • A demonstrated interest in communications, research, artificial intelligence, data science, campaigns or journalism
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced environment collaborating with a distributed team
  • Excellent written and oral communication and research skills
  • Entrepreneurial with strong critical thinking abilities
  • Organized and attentive to detail
  • Able to multi-task and approach assignments independently
  • Strong working knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite; particularly Excel
  • Available to work 40 hours per week
  • Requires US Work Authorization, unable to consider candidates with OPT/Post-OPT status

Nice To Haves

  • Some proficiency in Python and familiarity with machine learning frameworks are a plus

Responsibilities

  • Research topics and issues across earned and social media and analyze findings
  • Monitor issues, news events and competitor happenings
  • Support and conduct basic quantitative and qualitative primary opinion research data analysis
  • Participate in qualitative and quantitative research projects, including in-depth interviews, focus groups and online surveys
  • Support the development and fine-tuning of AI agents for tasks such as content generation, sentiment analysis, and predictive analytics
  • Conduct research on emerging AI tools, techniques, and ethical considerations
  • Identify and compile lists of media contacts
  • Draft briefing documents on reporters
  • Create social media content
  • Assist with drafting and editing client deliverables
  • Contribute to brainstorms and communications plans
  • Collaborate with team members on integrated campaigns, programs and strategies
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate AI solutions into broader campaign strategies
  • Edit and proofread client deliverables
  • Perform other duties as assigned
