The American Museum of Natural History (AMNH) is seeking a full-time Digital Archivist to manage the digital assets produced and collected throughout all stages of the digital life cycle. This role is crucial in overseeing the digital archival processes within the AMNH Research Library collections, which includes both existing digitized materials and born-digital content. The Digital Archivist will work closely with the Museum Archivist to assist with outreach and serve as an advisor for digital archive projects across the Museum. Additionally, the Digital Archivist will support the Digital Systems Manager in administering the Museum's Digital Asset Management System (DAM). Key responsibilities include managing all stages of archival management for digital assets, which encompasses accession, arrangement, processing, description, storage/preservation, and setting access control. The Digital Archivist will also provide technical support to existing DAM power-users, troubleshoot issues, and develop features or enhancements for projects. They will facilitate workflows between physical collections, the digitization process, description, and online access in ArchivesSpace. Furthermore, the Digital Archivist will assess, refine, and improve programs and workflows for digital asset management, contributing to policies for digitization of analog collections such as negatives, slides, films, and audio formats. Collaboration is a key aspect of this role, as the Digital Archivist will work with the Digital Systems Manager and Metadata Librarian to maintain and refine standards and workflows for cataloging and organizing digital assets. Supervising volunteers and interns is also part of the responsibilities, along with staying current on trends and standards in digital asset management, digital archives, and digital preservation. The Digital Archivist will perform weekly Library Reference desk shifts, ensuring a comprehensive approach to managing the Museum's digital archival resources.
