About The Position

The Digital Accessibility Analyst at the University of Michigan-Flint is responsible for ensuring that the university's digital assets comply with federal accessibility guidelines and institutional policies. This role involves conducting accessibility audits, developing policies, providing training, and fostering a culture of accessibility across the university. The analyst will collaborate with various teams to enhance user experience for all individuals, particularly those with disabilities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, human-computer interaction, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Three or more years of experience in digital accessibility compliance, software quality assurance, web development, or a related field.
  • Experience with digital accessibility standards.
  • Experience developing documentation, protocols, templates, and workflows for testing and compliance processes.
  • Experience collaborating with diverse teams, including campus partners, developers, designers, and project managers.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct accessibility audits of websites, applications, and enterprise software systems to ensure compliance with WCAG, ADA, and Section 508 standards.
  • Resolve accessibility barriers in collaboration with development teams and campus partners.
  • Develop accessibility policies and best practices that align with institutional commitments and legal requirements.
  • Ensure that accessibility considerations are incorporated into all software contracts, including upgrades to existing software, renewals, and new purchases.
  • Provide training and resources to campus partners on digital accessibility best practices and compliance requirements.
  • Advocate for universal digital accessibility compliance to ensure proper user experience for all individuals.
  • Stay current on evolving accessibility regulations, updating processes and tools as needed.
  • Establish processes and protocols to monitor the accessibility of digital assets and track all remediation efforts.
  • Report regularly on accessibility compliance status to campus partners and provide recommendations on continuous improvement strategies.
