About The Position

Responsible for the quality of nutritional care provided to both hospitalized and ambulatory patients. Performs nutritional assessments/evaluations and makes dietary recommendations. Provides patient counseling and education. Develops nutritional care, and monitors and implements changes as appropriate. Implements nutrition therapy orders and verifies implementation of orders. Monitors and evaluates patients adherence to, acceptance of, and tolerance for prescribed nutrition therapy. Re-evaluates/updates nutrition care on a regular basis. Accountable for the planning and directing of the nutrition office. Requirements

  • Bachelors degree required.
  • Current, valid, and active license and/or certification to practice as a Registered Dietitian in the state of employment required.
  • Registration with the American Dietetic Association required.
  • Minimum two (2) years of clinical experience in a hospital setting required.
  • Regular and punctual attendance.
  • English is the primary language of the facility.
  • Ability to read and write, communicate clearly with co- workers and customers and to respond to appropriate questions regarding work process or work product.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals as appropriate to the position.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instruction furnished in written, oral and/or diagram form.
  • Ability to define and solve problems and collect data.
  • Ability to identify and implement components of the nursing process
  • Identify learning needs and teach patients and families.
  • Ability to communicate and collaborate with a variety of teams and individuals.
  • Working knowledge and ability to apply professional standards of practice in job situations.

Nice To Haves

  • Current BLS Certification preferred.
  • Knowledge in modern principles and practices of dietetics preferred.
  • Knowledge in safety and sanitation standards applicable to hospital food service preferred.
  • Ability to project a professional image.
  • Knowledge of regulatory standards and compliance requirements.
  • Strong organizational, prioritizing and analytical skills.
  • Ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant.
  • Working knowledge of computer and software applications used in job functions.
