About The Position

This unique position primarily supports patient care at Western Psychiatric Hospital (WPH) and Presbyterian Hospital, with opportunities to cross-cover in additional specialty areas such as inpatient and outpatient eating disorders. The UPMC Oakland Campus is a large, academic medical center located in the Oakland neighborhood of Pittsburgh and includes multiple facilities, including Presbyterian Hospital and WPH. WPH delivers comprehensive mental health care to patients across the lifespan—from pediatric through geriatric populations. Requirements

  • Master's or Bachelor’s in Nutrition and Dietetics degree.
  • 1-2 years healthcare experience preferred.
  • Registered Dietitian (RD) or registration eligible (includes confirmation from accredited program that documentation has been submitted for processing) with employment contingent upon passing the RD examination within 6 months of date of hire.
  • Licensed Dietitian Nutritionist (LDN) with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania within 9 months of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care using Medical Nutrition Therapy to assess patients and develop goals and a plan of care.
  • Formulate a Nutrition Diagnosis and identify Malnutrition through Nutrition Focused Physical Assessment and the nationally established criteria for identification of malnutrition.
  • Accountable as nutrition liaison/expert to assigned units & participate as a member of interdisciplinary committees and projects.
  • Participate in department Quality Process Improvement activities.
