Jefferson Reaves, Sr. Health Center is a focal point for healthcare services in Over town and surrounding communities, committed to the dignity, social well-being, and health of its patients. It houses the University of Miami-run Family Medicine Residency Training Program and offers comprehensive primary care services, facilitating referrals to Jackson Memorial Hospital for specialized services. Staff provides care in English, Spanish, and Creole. The Dietitian's primary responsibility is to assess the nutritional and age-specific needs of patients, developing and implementing nutritional care plans. This involves communicating information pertinent to patient nutritional care through documentation and verbal interaction with other care providers, and providing high-quality, evidence-based care. The Dietitian also develops and maintains regular and therapeutic meals/menus, provides nutrition counseling to patients of all ages, their families, and/or significant others. Active participation in projects, committees, and/or task forces to improve department and hospital processes and patient care outcomes is expected, along with staying current with nutrition-related trends, research, policy, certifications, and standards of practice. Supervision is received from a professional superior who reviews results for adherence to standards and established hospital policies and procedures.
