Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Dietetics /Food and Nutrition from an accredited program.
  • Registered with the Commission on Dietetic Registration and licensed by the state of Iowa or registry eligible
  • Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to all the ages of the patients served on his/her assigned unit.
  • Able to perform physical assessment on patients that meet the criteria.
  • Writes, reads, comprehends, and speaks fluent English.
  • Basic computer knowledge using word, email, and internet.

Nice To Haves

  • 1-2 years of hospital clinical Dietetic preferred

Responsibilities

  • Assess nutritional needs for patients and families, providing targeted education and timely referrals to ensure continuity of care.
  • Develop individualized plans of care using a collaborative, patient‑ and family‑focused approach.
  • Deliver exceptional care aligned with established policies, procedures, and standards of practice.
  • Utilize strong critical‑thinking skills and independent judgment to support patient outcomes.
  • Maintain responsibility and accountability for the nutritional status of assigned patients.
  • Provide clinical education for outpatient programs such as Cardiac Rehab, Pulmonary Rehab, in‑service staff trainings, and requested community sessions
