About The Position

The Dietitian Opportunity: The Dietitian coordinates, assesses, and oversees comprehensive nutritional care for residents and clients across skilled nursing and behavioral health settings. This role collaborates closely with the interdisciplinary team (IDT), food service leadership, residents, families, and staff to promote optimal nutritional status, clinical outcomes, and quality of life. The Dietitian provides education, consultation, and leadership to ensure nutrition services meet regulatory requirements, evidence-based standards, and person-centered care principles. What You’ll Get: The starting pay range for this role is $33.00 - $35.93, based on education and experience. This job is in-person. This is an occasional position with needs March 13-21, and at least a week per month from May – July. This position will cover vacations or leaves as needed. What You Bring: Required: Bachelor’s degree in Dietetics or a closely related field. Current Registered Dietitian State of Wisconsin Dietitian certification, or ability to obtain upon hire. Maintains required continuing education units to sustain licensure and registration More than 1 year of experience in a healthcare setting. Preferred: Master’s degree in Dietetics. More than 1 year of experience in a long-term care or skilled nursing facility setting. What a Dietitian does at NCHC: Essential Duties: Conducts initial, quarterly, annual, and change-of-condition nutrition assessments for residents and clients. Develops, implements, monitors, and updates individualized nutrition care plans based on clinical status, diagnoses, preferences, and goals. Reviews laboratory values, weights, wounds, intake data, and clinical indicators to identify nutrition risks and interventions. Provides nutrition consultation for behavioral health hospital patients based on admission screening tools. Actively participates in IDT rounds, care conferences, Medicare and therapy review meetings, and resident/food councils. Collaborates with physicians, nursing staff, speech therapy, social work, activities, and food service to coordinate care and interventions. Communicates nutrition-related concerns, recommendations, and outcomes clearly and timely. Observes meal service and dining environments to ensure appropriateness, safety, and resident satisfaction. Assists with or observes feeding as needed to assess tolerance, swallowing concerns, and functional ability. Collaborates with food service leadership on menu development, therapeutic diets, food substitutions, and special requests. Evaluates menus for nutritional adequacy, regulatory compliance, resident preferences, and cost-effectiveness. Provides nutrition education to residents, families, and staff related to therapeutic diets, food safety, and nutrition concerns. Trains new employees and supports ongoing staff education related to meal service and diet order execution. Assists with development, review, and maintenance of nutrition-related policies and procedures. Ensures nutrition services comply with CMS, state regulations, accreditation standards, and NCHC policies. Completes accurate, timely documentation in the electronic medical record. Participates in audits, quality improvement initiatives, and regulatory surveys as assigned. Provides weekend or holiday coverage and facility support as assigned, including audits and staff assistance. Performs other duties as assigned. Requirements
