About The Position

The Dietitian Specialist 3 responsibilities include completing inpatient and outpatient nutritional assessments and reassessments for patients in specialty areas. Works collaboratively with health care team members to implement nutrition interventions, and coordinates the nutrition care of the patient. Provides specialized nutrition education to patients/family members in individual and/or group setting, arranging for outpatient referral to specialty clinic if necessary. Attends and participates in patient care meetings, team meetings, and quality meetings as assigned. Provides in-services and lectures to clinical staff, and mentors clinical dietitians and other health care team members to improve performance standards, participates in educating dietetic and medical students and serves as a consultant for interns, residents, fellows and attending physicians. Performs other duties as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s degree in Nutrition and Dietetics or Nutrition-related field required.
  • Three years of clinical nutrition experience required.
  • A thorough knowledge of clinical nutrition in area of specialty.
  • Ability to read, write legibly, and speak in English (Spanish preferred) with professional quality.
  • Proficiency in using computer and software programs necessary to the position.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and calibrate patient care equipment.
  • Ability to relate and communicate positively, effectively, and professionally with others.
  • Ability to work calmly and respond courteously when under pressure.
  • Ability to lead, supervise, teach, and collaborate.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English in person, in writing, and on the telephone.
  • Ability to think critically and work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to perform basic math functions and manage multiple assignments effectively.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and problem solve.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize workload and recall information with accuracy.
  • Attention to detail and ability to distinguish colors and smells as necessary for patient care.
  • Ability to hear sufficiently for general conversation in person and on the telephone.
  • Ability to identify and distinguish various sounds associated with the workplace/patient care.
  • Ability to see adequately to read computer screens, medical records, and written documents necessary to the position.
  • Ability to discern temperature variances through touch.

Nice To Haves

  • Board Certified Specialty certification required within one year of hire or transfer, for outpatient clinic positions only.
